Why Chiropractic?

What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a fast-growing primary healthcare profession covered by many private insurers, which focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of most conditions due to mechanical dysfunction of the spine.  This can affect ligaments, tendons and healthy nerve function.  Chiropractic is a drug-free, non-invasive treatment of the spine. It is a low risk therapy which is aimed at providing pain relief quickly. A chiropractor is qualified to recognise conditions which merit a referral elsewhere, and Mark Baxter has provided these referrals on more than a few occasions. Chiropractic care is safe for the whole family.  To book an appointment with Baxter Chiropractic Clinic in Dunfermline, get in touch today.

The first step is the consultation

On their first visit to Baxter Chiropractic Clinic, the patient will have a comprehensive consultation with Mark Baxter, DC, which includes a review of their medical history. The purpose of this history and examination is to confirm whether the problem qualifies for chiropractic treatment, and also to make as precise a diagnosis and treatment plan as possible.
SEE WHAT WE COVER

Non-invasive treatments

Treatment at Baxter Chiropractic Clinic is usually painless and, contrary to popular belief, is completely normal and non-dramatic. It consists of both chiropractic adjustments of the spine and soft tissue work.

Chiropractic adjustments

The purpose of this treatment is to normalise the function of the vertebral joints which allow the muscles of your back and neck to ease. Restoring proper mechanics to the spine targets pain locally and often helps with pain in the arms and legs.

Soft tissue treatments

The chiropractor also treats the soft tissues of the body, the muscles and tendons, by various massage and stretching techniques.

Training and prevention

An important part of chiropractic treatment is to teach the patients how to take care of their own body. This improves their overall wellness and helps to reduce visits in future. The patient is often given a programme of stretches, or exercises, to be done at home. Once the problem has been relieved, it's important to prevent similar problems arising in the future. The chiropractor will talk to the patient to identify any strains that their body is exposed to at work, home, or when playing sport.

'I've had back trouble for several years now and used numerous chiropractors with good and not so good results. I kind of gave up and kept thinking I was just throwing money away. Baxter Chiropractic Clinic has restored my faith.'
- Ross Carnegie

'Having visited other clinics where appointments seemed very rushed, it was a pleasure to visit a relaxed and modern clinic, where the care was outstanding and friendly and where my health was a priority.
- EJ

'I was in pain for fourteen years, could no longer drive and I was spending most of the day in bed. I tried other practitioners without success. After seeing Mark for a year, I no longer need pain relief, my posture has improved and I can take part in daily living. I would thoroughly recommend Baxter Chiropractic Clinic.
